The Barrington Little League 9-10 year-old All Star baseball team rolled through the District 2 tournament without losing a single game, and wrapped up the title with a 5-2 win in the finals. Facing a tough Warren team in the finals, Barrington fell behind 1-0 early on. In the bottom of the third inning, Matt Raffa slapped a bases-loaded 2-run double. James Anderson and Harrison Cooley rounded the bases to score and swing the lead in Barrington’s favor. Josh LeBlanc and Raffa scored later that inning and put the home team in front 4-1.9-10 allstars-wt vs bt19 Meanwhile, Ben Ptasek settled in on the mound, pitching four innings and giving up only one run. With two outs in the fifth inning, Warren put a runner on base and threatened to score as a batter cracked what appeared at first to be a hit to right field. Raffa made a diving catch, however, and ended the inning. Anderson pitched the final two innings of the game to finish off the visitors. Barrington finished the tournament undefeated by beating Warren 4-3, Pineview 19-3, Riverside 11-2, and Warren 5-2 en route to the District 2 championship. There is no state tournament finals for the 9-10 year-old minors division. “We had a great group of kids who all contributed to the success of our team,” said team manager Tom Crain. “They gave us 100 percent from day one for practices and games. It was great to watch them win the district title. They earned it.”
