The East Bay Newspapers began publishing on the internet in 1998, our goal was to reach deeper into the communities we serve by providing more than we could through our print editions.

The Phoenix-Times Publishing Company and East Bay Newspapers is a locally owned and operated newspaper company which publishes the Barrington Times, Bristol Phoenix, East Providence Post, Newport This Week, Seekonk Star, Sakonnet Times, Warren Times-Gazette, Westport Shorelines, Swansea News and the East Bay Classifieds.

The company dates back to 1837, when the Bristol Phoenix was founded by William H. S. Bayley. The present ownership took over in 1929, when Roswell S. Bosworth Sr. became the fourth editor and publisher. Matt Hayes, the current owner and publish becomes the third generation in the family to run the company.

The primary goal of the company is dedicated service to the public through quality publications.The mission of East Bay Newspapers is to publish high quality community newspapers with integrity and fairness. This is accomplished by presenting readers and advertisers with publications that are innovative, entertaining, responsible, accurate, thoughtful and sensitive to the needs of the community.
