EAST PROVIDENCE — The 2018 road repair season has begun in East Providence under the auspices of the city’s Department of Public Works and contractor J.H. Lynch & Sons Inc. Roadway and sidewalk improvements will continue through the fall.
According to DPW Director Steve Coutu, Lynch crews began their work with repair of sidewalks on James Street and Mauran Avenue in the center of the city. As well, coinciding with a contract the company has with the East Providence School District, Lynch was repaving the parking lot on the south side of the Martin Middle School building. Mr. Coutu added actual significant resurfacing of street decks will begin in earnest in the coming weeks. He stressed The city and the contractor will make every effort to minimize any inconvenience to the residents during construction residents on roads where work is scheduled will be notified in advance of construction activities.
Mr. Coutu noted during construction the roads may be closed, except for local traffic. Vehicular access to resident’s properties may be limited or restricted for brief periods of time during construction. Temporary “No Parking” signs will be posted along these roads and will be enforced during the hours of construction. Parking will be permitted outside of construction hours.
The hours of construction will typically be from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., Monday through Friday, although longer hours and weekend work may be required to complete the project in a timely manner.
