This is simple math! The turbine cost three million dollars .The town floated a bond for three million of which the taxpayers are still on the hook for two million dollars .The turbine is three years old and has had many many issues and breakdowns over the short three year life of the turbine .

The turbine did make 400 thousand dollars over three years but the catastrophic failure of the gear box is at least 600 thousand dollar repair. The 100 thousand dollar blades will also need inspection .The new warranty on the gear box is around 75 thousand a year in addition to the current 30 thousand dollar maintenance contract .

The town needs to float a new bond for one million dollars to repair the broken wind turbine and hire a qualified individual to run the turbine in the future .

The math here shows that the turbine will always run in the red and in fact at the end of twenty years another 2 million needs to be spent on the turbine .

The turbine is currently too close to the town water tank .The original wind turbine company issued a report saying the turbine blades would never hit the town water tank. Does the town take a second look at the siting of the high school wind turbine along with shadow flicker ,noise and the residential concerns of ice throw .

Take it down and go with some other source of renewable energy .This is the largest wind turbine in Rhode Island and one of the biggest mistakes besides 38 Studios
