I don't know Mr. Calouro, but it seems like he handled this situation about a poorly as possible. I.e.:
1) He left his position with no notice and thus eliminated the possibility of receiving a positive (or any) reference for the position at any time in the future.
2) He deleted his employer's files, but was not so talented about it because..............
3) .........he left behind evidence that he was engaging in activities not directly related to his position ... personally embarrassing activities.
4) He is indicating his "intent to file suit" against the town for failing to produce documents relating to his not being hired for the harbormaster position. If Mr. Calouro "wins" this lawsuit, the town's remedy, of course, would be to comply and provide the documents. If that happens, where's the victory for Mr. Calouro? Does he really want to see the official record indicating what caused people to conclude he wasn't the most qualified candidate for the job? Doesn't he understand that the files might possibly contain statements such as "We didn't hire him because there were too many reports that he sat in his office watching dirty movies"?
Apparently this guy skipped school the day they taught the "Here's how to act like a man and cut your losses" lesson.
