People calling in, over other people taking their recyclables, is just plain wrong and small minded. Unless they are leaving a mess behind or taking stuff off your property, leave them alone. People who pick trash are generally just plain broke. Give them a break. I don't care what town bylaws say, it's ridiculous to complain about the few pennies they make off the recyclables. If the Police are driving by and decide to stop, that's up to them.

Get a life for god sakes and leave the unfortunate ones alone. It is a far bigger expense and waste of time for Police, to have to respond and fill out paperwork for these calls, than the loss of the recyclables themselves. Then what happens when these people, who are already broke to begin with, can't pay a fine? You would actually advocate having the police arrest someone, for not paying a ticket for trash picking? Palease, what a small minded person you are, for calling the Police over such a minor issue. Just leave them alone, they already have it bad enough that they are forced to go around picking trash to get by.

Now, if they are damaging something or leaving a mess, that's obviously a different story. If you have that big of a problem with it, then go out and tell them yourself, leave the Police to do real Police work, geez.

Those of you that need to pick recyclables are welcome to come to King Philip Ave in Bristol and pick all you want. We generally put out two bins of soda cans and bottles, since we shop at Sam's club in MA, they have the MA $.5 deposit on them, take all you want.
