Kathy, you are dead on in feeling the way you do, no pun intended. I knew most of the boys that were killed in recent years having coached them. I cannot believe that an educated man, a doctor, no less, would host a party for teens involving alcohol. Perhaps he hasn't lived in the town very long but if he has, Jon Converse died less than a mile from his "party" house. And the Murphy boy right on Barrington River. Wake up! I am on your side Kathy as well as the men I coach with at BHS. We instill morals and ethics with our boys and do not tolerate any variances from the code of conduct that we have established. A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
