My father was actually born on Jan 22, 1934 not Jan 15, 1936, He also left his wife(Lynda Quartaro)and Four kids(Arturo Quartaro Jr, Gitano Quartaro, Luciano Don Quartaro, and Gina Quartaro)and three grandchildren(Roxanne Quartaro, Arturo Quartaro 3rd, and Lindsey Kathleen Quartaro) here in southern California in the San Diego county. My father Art was a great man who fought C.O.P.D and many incurable diseases like Diabetes, Congestive Heart Failure, and Arthritis for many years while keeping our family off the streets and out of trouble. He passed away a day before Arturo Jr's 26th birthday. He served in the Navy for 22 years after joining in 1952 as a chef. My father was a great man and will always be remembered not only through his loved ones but through his books and paintings as well. R.I.P Art James Quartaro forever in our hearts

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
