For our friends in the rescue & shelter community. Barrington Partnership fir Animal Welfare www.barringtonpaw.org wants to make it clear this is a Barrington ACO event - NOT a BPAW Enent. Fir the nearly 5 years that our volunteers handled adoptions for former ACO John Duffy every adopter was very carefully screened & follow up happened. Applications & fees were of course part of the process. Thank you to all of the RI & MA rescues & shelters who helped support us in setting up those systems. We know only what anyone else reading the paper does about today's event & sincerely hope that good, loving homes will be found for these stray cats who so need a safe place to go! We have no doubt that the ACO & others who organized the event are well intentioned & just want good homes for the cats & we hope that's the outcome.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
