I understand "GoodbytoRI" that you are a disgruntled former resident that is eager to say "I told you so". Now all of the angry peeps with their axes to grind have their say for a bit. The fact remains that the money we are short is the money that the state has stopped contributing toward the schools plus the increase on what they are demanding. That will just get alot worse over the next few years. I personally think getting the administrative layer to cover a wider area of towns may be the answer I mean how many superintendants are there between Providence and Newport making 130k or so per year? As for you gb, everyone has heard you tell us so, twice now, maybe its time for you start punching your holes where you currently reside. They need you.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
