Truly a sad day for this city. Just when you think things couldn't get any worse, the Chief retires.

The bullies got what they wanted. Rossi, Rose, Feeney, Parella and the rest of them. What a shame. Rossi and others have made this their priority for a long time now. What a waste they all are.

I thank the Chief for his outstanding service and for putting up with this garbage for as long as he did. No one should be subject to what these people put him through.

This city is in for some really troubled times now.

The unfortunate part is, the good men and women on the force are being dragged down by the garbage. Dam shame.

Best of luck to you Chief and again, thank you.

Jim McGaw

A lifelong Portsmouth resident, Jim graduated from Portsmouth High School in 1982 and earned a journalism degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1986. He's worked two different stints at East Bay Newspapers, for a total of 18 years with the company so far. When not running all over town bringing you the news from Portsmouth, Jim listens to lots and lots and lots of music, watches obscure silent films from the '20s and usually has three books going at once. He also loves to cook crazy New Orleans dishes for his wife of 25 years, Michelle, and their two sons, Jake and Max.
