Spacious Bristol Victorian new to market

By   /   March 4, 2013  /   1 Comment

IMG_2380_1_1This sprawling 1850 Victorian at 51 Church Street, a little more than a block from the shores of Bristol Harbor, retains many its original architectural details. But with a new chef’s kitchen, abundant storage including a three-car detached garage, and expansive master suite, the comfort and livability of this home is decidedly 21st-century.

With 12 rooms and five bedrooms over more than 4,000 square feet, two full bathrooms and one half bathroom, this is a wonderful property for a large family. It would also be perfect for a small one that doesn’t mind a lot of houseguests—something that’s virtually guaranteed in this downtown location between the two streets that showcase Bristol’s famed Fourth of July Parade.

Church Street is a residential street. Yet it is right in the center of Bristol’s National Register Historic District, surrounded by other well-maintained historic homes, and just around the corner from one of the busiest shopping blocks in town. Most of Bristol’s fabulous restaurants and museums are located a stone’s throw away. This home would be a perfect base for anyone who appreciates the marriage of downtown convenience with small-town charm.

Recreational opportunities are right outside your door. Whatever your craft of choice, you can be launching on Bristol Harbor within minutes. The almost-15-mile-long East Bay Bike Path begins about a half mile from Church Street, and clay tennis courts are only a half block to the east, on the historic Bristol Town Common. Colt State Park, at over 400 acres, is a tremendous wide open space less than a mile to the north with frontage on Narragansett Bay, and to the east, beyond the Common, you’ll find Mount Hope Farm, with fields and forest that stretch to the Bay of the same name.

Have not seen the inside of this beautiful home since the days of my childhood when my Mom would take me to Dr. Bruno. I recall his wife was his nurse…Am I right? I would just spend my time just in awe at such a gorgeous home…
