Home:“Raised in East Providence, living and working in Barrington.”

Road to real estate: “When I was 22, I wanted to buy my own home. I got along very well with my realtor, Margaret Farley, who at the time was with Yorktown Realtors in East Providence. They were looking for part-time clerical staff, I was looking for work, so I joined Yorktown and immediately started working toward my license.”

Mentors: “I was pretty young when I started in this business, and Margaret was a wonderful source of advice and guidance, as was Jean Clarke, also with Yorktown. I am so fortunate that they chose to join our agency, so I still have the privilege of working with them.”

Family: “I have two daughters. Kayla is 25, and she is currently in Miami working for Teach for America. Jillian is 22, living in Federal Hill and working in an environmental lab in Warwick. I have been married to Todd Mosher for more than seven years, and we have been business partners as the owners and principal brokers at RE/MAX River’s Edge in Barrington since 2007.”

How we met: “It was February 2001 and I was the listing agent of a house he was showing to his brother, as the buying agent. He asked me to lunch — on more than one occasion. A lot of real estate business is transacted over lunch, so of course I just assumed they were business lunches. A friend of mine knew better. She teased me about these ‘business’ lunches, asking if I needed to have a brick dropped on my head. I guess I did, because it took me a while, and Todd’s not exactly one to throw a brick, either! But when he asked me to dinner, after the closing, I got the message.”

On working together: “We just celebrated the five-year anniversary of River’s Edge, and in December we purchased the RE/MAX franchise for East Providence. As empty nesters, this business is really our baby, and we put a tremendous amount of energy into it, but we both love every minute. I especially enjoy the business development end, promoting our agents and their own professional development. I spend a lot of time at conferences and seminars, as well as bringing coaching opportunities and real estate courses back to our colleagues. We believe a positive professional environment is so important, and I think our agents appreciate that. Todd has also been in this business for 20 years, so we get lots of referral business — and we refer out, as well, to make sure that a client finds an agent with the right skill set for their needs.”

What’s for dinner: “I love food, and I love to cook. Our tastes are very different. Todd has about five favorite simple things and that is it. His family teases him that my cooking skills are completely wasted on him. The truth is, we often work late and eat out. I can scan a menu in seconds and know if Todd will like it or not. Fortunately he’s laid back and usually manages to find something he can be happy with. We spend a lot of time in the East Bay’s restaurants!”

Hitting the road: “That’s the great thing about this business, with the right team, one can work remotely. We love to road trip! New York City, throughout New England, going to B&B’s, visiting friends, walks in the woods and golfing. We’re going zip-lining in a few weeks — to see the foliage from a different viewpoint! I went to Paris and Amsterdam this spring with friends, but Todd was kind enough to stay back and keep the office running smoothly. I look forward to going back to Europe with him, but there are lots of places we’d love to go. Another trip to Turks and Caicos is next on the list.”

Small business ownership: “Todd and I are always connected to the office, but we can step away when we need to. I love real estate, and the colleagues and friendships I have made over the years.”

Down time: “Spending time with family and friends, listening to music, browsing Pinterest and walking the woods around Brickyard  Pond with Alvin, (my Bichon.) While I love walking my neighborhood by the water, there is nothing like a quiet walk in the woods to clear my mind.”

As an agent at RE/MAX River’s Edge, I can attest to the fact that Michelle and Todd are not your average broker-owners. They are dedicated to creating an atmosphere whereby their agents can flourish and grow their business. They promote and actively participate in industry and community activities.

The East Providence location has won several awards this year and that is a direct reflection on Michelle’s involvement. Since Michelle and Todd purchased the East Providence RE/MAX franchise, we have seen a steady flow of quality agents joining our team of dedicated Realtors.
With Michelle’s and Todd’s continued inspiration, RE/MAX River’s Edge will continue to grow and positively impact the real estate market in Rhode Island and S.E. MA.
