Hometown: “Barrington. I was raised in Barrington, left when I was 18, and moved back nine years ago.”

Family: “I’m the oldest of four children. My father became disabled when I was 15, and my mother has been taking care of him ever since. It really taught me the importance of family. We are all very close, and most of us live in either Warren or Barrington.”

Education: “Barrington High School, Endicott College for Interior Design, then I studied Historic Preservation at Roger Williams University.”

Previous career: “I did interior design for a while, early on. Then I went into sales but lost that job nine years ago, when the company closed their Bristol plant and consolidated operations with a facility in Massachusetts.”

Why real estate: “I was always interested in real estate, but when I lost my sales job, given my background in interior design and historic preservation, it was a natural fit.”

Sports: “I’m an avid scuba diver. I mostly go out off Newport, Gloucester, and Cape Cod. I like interacting with the natural environment and looking at marine life, though I have done some wreck diving as well. I’m a dive master, which is just one level below Instructor. I also love biking. I try to ride about 12 miles a day. I like to start off at the Coffee Depot in the morning, and ride down the bike path from there. If I get a chance at the end of the day I’ll get out again and ride another 12 miles or so. And I enjoy snowshoeing — in Vermont, or if we have enough snow, in Colt State Park or Nickerson State Park on the Cape.”

Food: “I love to cook, especially Portuguese and Italian food, and seafood. My favorite restaurant is Siena in East Greenwich. It’s as good as the one on Federal Hill and you can actually find a place to park.”

Media: “I don’t really watch television. I like to listen to music, and read historical non-fiction, books like ’1776′ and ‘John Adams.’ Or anything about diving. I also read a lot of real estate-related books and materials — it’s important to keep up with the market and industry trends. I’m currently reading “Taking Care of Business: The Big Idea for Small Businesses,” by Brian Buffini & Joe Niego.”

Community: “I’m an active member of the Massasoit Historical Association, which owns the Maxwell House in Warren. I’m the current president. And I’m serving on the fundraising committee for the Warren Historic Armory.”

Home: “I restored the D.K. Bowen house on Church Street in Warren, a 1795 Federal, and lived in it for 25 years. Now I’m in a 1930s craftsman. I really enjoy restoring houses.”

Travel: “Europe, whenever possible. I studied in England when I was working towards my Historic Preservation degree. The architecture in Europe is incredible. And I would love to drive the Amalfi Coast and dive the Mediterranean.”

Advice to buyers and sellers: “Do your research and always use a full-time Realtor.”

Key to success: “I keep in touch with past clients as well as current ones. They know they can come to me, I’m their go-to person when it comes to the trades, and this field. Some of my best advocates have never actually bought property from me, and I credit that to the great team of people I work with on a regular basis: contractors, lawyers, mortgage originators, plumbers. When a client has a problem and you can take care of it in a reasonable amount of time for a reasonable amount of money, you’re their hero.”

Happy place: “The ocean, walking the beach. I’m on the beach every day, if only for a few minutes.”

Most important quality: “Say what you’re going to do, and then do what you said you would do. That’s important in business and important in life.”

Listings: “You can find them at www.debjobinhomes.com.”
