Family: “I’m married, and my husband and I have four boys ranging in age from 16 to 21. We met on an online dating site, decided to get married after the first month, and went through with it after four! We’ve been married nine years — nine of the best years of my life.”
Why real estate: “After school, I briefly taught in a Head Start classroom, then I went to work in a real estate appraiser’s office. The office space was shared with a realtor, Padric Meagher, and part of my job was answering his phone as well. I spent more time manning his phone than I did doing appraisal work. After about a year of this I asked Padric what he thought about me getting my real estate license. He could not have been more supportive. He was a wonderful teacher, and working for him for 10 years was a very positive and educational experience.”
Free time: “I love spending time with my husband, even if we are just running errands. I’m a closet gamer, and really enjoy online role-playing games. I have also been getting into old classic movies, like ‘The Seven Year Itch’ and ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s.’ Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn are currently my two favorite leading ladies. I love that they don’t reflect a modern-day stereotype of what a woman should look like or how she should behave.
“I also enjoy listening to music – any kind, from 1940s to the 1990s, classic rock to heavy metal. Watching old movies got me listening to the music of the same era. When I read, I like a simple love story that I can get through quickly – otherwise I’m reading about real estate, building my knowledge base and keeping up on industry trends.”
Time: “I used to love watching the boys play football and lacrosse, and I really miss those days. My oldest graduates from URI this month. I remember waking up to feed him at 4 a.m. Now he’s staying up until 4 a.m. Where did the time go?”
Fate: “I was working a part-time job in Newport about five years ago and saw two people on mopeds – one of them was Deb Cordeiro. I asked her why she wasn’t out selling houses, and she told me she already had, just that morning. And then she asked when I was going to come work for her, and I said ‘right now!’ Coming to work with Deb at EXIT Harborside Realty was a great decision, and a great twist of fate.”
Words to work by: “I like to say that ‘Finding “Home” Begins Here,’ because I feel so at home with what I do, I make it my goal to make my clients feel at home. That’s the attitude I bring to my relationship with every buyer and every seller.”
