PORTSMOUTH — More than 50 volunteers removed 857 pounds of marine debris during an Earth Month cleanup hosted by Clean Ocean Access (COA) at Pheasant Drive Beach Saturday.

Despite the wet weather, the event drew a strong turnout from local Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts and employees from Longwood Venture.

COA’s beach cleanups are made possible by the organization’s supporters, as well as sponsorship by People’s Credit Union and in-kind refreshments provided by Empire Tea & Coffee.

The 2019 beach cleanup schedule is available at www.cleanoceanaccess.org/calendar

COA seeks volunteer photographers to capture its weekend cleanups, as well as volunteers to join the flexible cleanup program. For more information, visit www.cleanoceanaccess.org.
