Albert “Budd” D. Buddemeyer, 63, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., formerly of Portsmouth, R.I., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2017 unexpectedly surrounded by family.

Born in Norfolk, Va. on July 9, 1954, he was the son of the late Paul F. Buddemeyer and Barbara K. (Brogan) Buddemeyer.

Budd was a longtime resident and well-known figure in the town of Portsmouth. He served on the Portsmouth Town Council from 2002 to 2004. He owned and operated Budd’s Auto Sales for 20 years where he became well known in the community.

After retiring from his business in 2008, he joined his brother David’s company, Driftwood Hospitality, as a corporate chief engineer. This allowed him to put his talents to use while staying close to his family in Florida.

Budd touched many lives and had more friends than one could count. If you met him once, you had a loyal friend for life. He was always there for many who were in need or needed his help. He enjoyed motorcycling trips, and traveling with friends. He was dearly loved by his family and was the rock that the family is based on.

Besides his lifetime companion, Kimberly Catalan, he is survived by his daughter Stephanie Lee Buddemeyer, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla. He is also survived by his siblings and their spouses, Paul Earl Buddemeyer of Clarksville, Tenn., David Allan and Kathi Buddemeyer of Jupiter, Fla., Kevin Michael and Gail Buddemeyer of Davenport, Fla., Michelle Marie (Buddemeyer) and Paul Finan of Tiverton, R.I., Michael Allan and Amy Buddemeyer of Portsmouth, R.I.; six nieces and nephews, Zack Michael Buddemeyer of Jupiter, Fla., Kristine Anne Buddemeyer of Celebration, Fla., Sheona and Anthony Cordeiro of Fall River, Mass. and Christopher Allan and Stephanie Finan of Middletown, R.I., Shane Michael Buddemeyer and Megan Rose Buddemeyer of Portsmouth, R.I.; three great-nieces and nephews, Brooke Marie Finan, Danial Allan Finan and Olivia Rose Finan.

The funeral and burial services will be private.
