A 'Beauty' of a show at Portsmouth Middle School (photos)
‘Beauty and the Beast Jr.’ draws a packed house
PORTSMOUTH — It was standing-room only in the Portsmouth Middle School Little Theater Thursday for the opening night performance of “Beauty and the Beast Jr.”
The school Drama Club’s production of the Disney classic featured all your favorite characters from the show: Belle, The Beast, Gaston, Lumiere, Lefou, Cogsworth and many more.
There will be another show at 6:30 tonight (Friday, March 16). Tickets are $5 for those under 14, and $9 for everyone else.
Brian Williams, a senior at Portsmouth High School, directed the show, which was produced by middle school teacher Monica Taft.
Costumes are by Grace Finnegan and Devon Pauline, and Liana Rooney is the backstage manager. Molly Bloom is the student assistant, and props and scenery are handled by Crystal Cavaco and Katie Heffernan.
About 40 students took part in the production overall.
