Police, fire and rescue logs: Week of March 20


Tuesday, March 11

Police investigated suspicious activity on Greylock Road as a man tried twice to enter a house.

Cris Crecelius, 21, of Barrington was arrested at the corner of Hillside Road and Hope Street for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol and refusal to submit to a chemical test.

Wednesday, March 12

Police responded to a domestic disturbance on Primrose Drive, after a caller said a man was kicking a woman in the front yard. No further problems were reported.

Police investigated suspicious activity on Broadcommon Road, as a caller said a man in a parked silver Jeep was writing notes. No further problems were reported.

Michael Joseph McGarty, 21, of Quincy, Mass. was arrested at Roger Williams University on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant for possession of marijuana, first offense.

Thursday, March 13

Kenny Ponte, 22, of New Bedford, was arrested at the corner of Franklin and Hope streets for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, with a blood-alcohol level greater than .15.

Police assisted a woman in removing objects from her vehicle at Andarade's Auto Repair on Bay View Avenue.

John Baptista, 39, of East Providence, was arrested at the corner of Hope and Union streets on a Sixth Division District Court bench warrant for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense.

Police reported larceny from a vehicle on Siegel Street.

Someone broke a front door knob to a home on Hamlet Drive. No further problems were reported.

Police investigated suspicious activity at Cedar Crest Park on Fatima Drive as the driver of a white truck threw a duffel bag on the side of the road and left. No further problems were reported.

Police reported damage to curbing in front of a Kickemuit Avenue property, possibly from a plow.

Police reported harassment from three men at Pizza Wave on Metacom Avenue. No further problems were reported.

Renaldo Cockrum, 33, of Warren was summonsed at the corner of Hope and Union streets for driving with an expired license.

Police investigated suspicious activity on the corner of Hope and Church streets but reported no problems.

Friday, March 14

Police assisted Warren police at the Route 114 Bristol-Warren line.

Police responded to a call that some Roger Williams University students walking to a shuttle stop banged on the windows of a Bradford Street home, nearly breaking the windows.

Police reported suspicious activity at the corner of Ferry Road and Wood Street but reported no problems.

Police assisted a man lying on the ground on Bradford Street, who then was taken by a resident of 129 Bradford St.

Bryan Strickland, 18, of West Roxbury, Mass. was arrested at the corner of Wood Street and Bay View Avenue for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, refusing a chemical test, driving on the right half of the road and driving through a stop sign.

Police assisted a group on Metacom Avenue in walking to the Shell Mart.

Police assisted a group making a delivery for Bristol Toyota on Metacom Avenue.

Police assisted a man on Gooding Avenue.

Patrick O'Donnell, 27, of Warren was arrested on Bradford Street for vandalism to property and having prohibited weapons other than firearms.

Police responded to a burglar alarm at Galilean Seafood Inc. on Broadcommon Road but reported no problems.

Police reported fraud or forgery at Clashing Rythims on Gooding Avenue.

Police reported trespassing on Oliver Street as a man entered an apartment and knocked over items in the hallway.

Police reported a stolen cell phone at Roger Williams University.

Darren Rezendes, 23, of East Providence was arrested at the corner of Mt. Hope Avenue and First Street for violating a restraining order.

Police reported a stolen iPod from a vehicle on Colonial Road.

Police reported fraudulent checks at Mallory Court.

Police found drug paraphenalia at the Bristol Town Beach on Asylum Road.

Police investigated a family disturbance on Harrison Street but reported no problems.

Police reported Roger Williams University security found narcotics in a dorm room.

Saturday, March 15

Police reported vandalism to a vehicle on Fatima Drive.

Ashley Leitao, 23, of 9 Highview Ave., was arrested at the corner of Chestnut Street and Metacom Avenue for driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol, first offense, with a blood-alcohol level greater than .15, driving in possession of controlled substances and possession of marijuana, first offense.

Police responded to a complaint on Jennifer Drive of a man who said his daughter stole his prescriptions and some bonds.

Police reported vandalism to Bank of America on Hope Street.

Police reported a 911 call from an open line from children who were playing with the phone.

Police reported assault against a male subject at the corner of Wood and Bradford streets.

Sunday, March 16

Police investigated suspicious activity on Mulberry Road, after a caller reported a suspicious truck parked in front of her house at 116 Mulberry Road. Police said it was a delivery truck parked temporarily.

Police responded to reports of a reckless, speeding vehicle on Thames Street.

Police reported a domestic disturbance on Lafayette Drive as a man stated his wife began throwing things at him when he returned home. The man said he had been drinking that evening.

Police investigated suspicious activity at the corner of Wood and Burton streets, as a group of men was walking on the sidewalk, screaming.

Police investigated people at 26 Sampson St. who were removing items from the home and vehicles parked at the home. Police said it was the relatives of the homeowners.

Police assisted a caller who said a group of teens were causing a disturbance on High Street and making threats. No further problems were reported.

Police responded to a 911 call from an open line.

Monday, March 17

Police investigated a fight on Siegel Street but reported no problems.

Police reported a domestic, family disturbance at Mt. Hope Farm on Metacom Avenue.

Police reported stolen tools from a trailer on Tupelo Street.

Police reported a breaking and entering at the Benjamin Church Manor, units S-V, on Hope Street.
