Eco-Depot coming to Tiverton
TIVERTON A special Eco-Depot household hazardous waste collection will be held in Tiverton on Saturday, April 16.
The collection will be held from 8 a.m. to 1p.m. at the Tiverton Public Works Department, 50 Industrial Way. The service is free and appointments are required. Call 942-1430, extension 241 to make an appointment.
The Eco-Depot program's purpose is to provide a more convenient way to dispose of hazardous waste than making the trip to the Central Landfill in Johnston.
Household hazardous waste includes gasoline, oil-based paint, pesticides, lawn chemicals, fluorescent light bulbs, pool chemicals and propane gas tanks. Disposing of these items in household trash or pouring them down drains is against the law. A more detailed list can be found at www.rirrc.org.
"This is an easy way for residents to get a jump on their spring cleaning and get rid of the old paint cans and propane tanks sitting in their basements and garages," said Rep. Joseph Amaral who announced the visit.
