RWU student arrested on multiple drug charges
PORTSMOUTH A Roger Williams University student faces multiple drug charges after police searched his room at the request of university officials last Saturday, Sept. 4 and uncovered drugs, scales and other paraphernalia.
Michael Dynia, 18, of Bayside, N.Y. was arrested after a residential counselor at the RWU conference center and dormitories smelled what he suspected to be marijuana emanating from Mr. Dynia's room Saturday. The man called a security officer, knocked on the door and, after asking Mr. Dynia if he was smoking marijuana, was given a small bag of the drug. Police were called a short time later.
When they arrived, they entered the room and found several bottles of alcohol, additional marijuana, five bags of what Mr. Dynia said were psychedelic mushrooms, a bong, Xanax and Adderall pills, and other drug equipment including a digital scale and plastic baggies. Some of the drugs were found hidden in a fake Pledge furniture polish can, police said.
Mr. Dynia was charged with possession of Schedule I, II, III, IV and V drugs, manufacturing or possessing schedule I and II drugs, possession of marijuana and possession of alcohol by a minor.
He faces a court date in Second Division District Court in Newport.
