PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School gymnastics team’s winning ways continued Saturday with a victory over Barrington and Middletown in a tri-school meet at Prestige Fitness & Gymnastics Center in Swansea.
The team racked up 127.15 points, outscoring Middletown (123.6) and Barrington (120.95).
Taylor Shapiro led the way for the Patriots, scoring a total of 32.6 points in the all-around. She notched an 8.8 on the floor routine, an 8.4 on the vault, an 8.05 on the beam and a 7.35 on the bars.
Sophia Sousa scored a 31.2 overall (7.9 vault, 7.05 bars, 8.2 beam and 8.05 floor).
Caroline Daly also scored a total of 31.2 points (8.0 vault, 7.8 bars, 7.2 beam and 8.55 floor).
Melanie Williams collected 30.6 total points (7.95 vault, 7.25 bars, 8.0 beam and 7.4 floor).
Jordan Burnley scored a 8.55 in the floor exercise, while Mara Dennis scored a 7.6 on the beam.
The Patriots sit alone atop Division II, with an 11-1 record.
The team’s next meet is against Middletown and West Warwick at the Newport County YMCA at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2.
