Albertine A. (Croteau) Caron, 95, Tiverton and Portsmouth

Albertine A. (Croteau) Caron, 95, formerly of Tiverton and Portsmouth, died on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Manor, Bristol, RI. She was the wife of the late Ernest “Cy” Caron. 

Born in Fall River, Mass. on July 24, 1922, she is the daughter of the late Albert and Antoinette (Janson) Croteau.

She is survived by her children, Louise Borden and her husband Thomas of Portsmouth, and Diane Richard and her husband Paul of Bradford, NH, and predeceased by Lynne Taunton of Bristol. She also leaves one sister, Lucille Pimenta of Tiverton, RI, seven grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Normand Croteau.

During her lifetime, Mrs. Caron worked in various stitching plants in Fall River, Mass. She also worked as a sales clerk at Edgar’s Department Store and Globe Mills Department Store, also in Fall River. Her last position was with the Tiverton School Department from which she eventually retired.
Mrs. Caron was past president of the St. Christopher’s Altar and Rosary Society in Tiverton. She also served as president (and was the very first president) for the Tiverton Women’s Democratic Organization, holding that position from 1963-1964.

In her retirement years, she volunteered at St. Anne’s Hospital in Fall River.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 30, with visitation from 8:30-9:30 a.m. at Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Road, Portsmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 2836 East Main Road, Portsmouth, RI. Burial will be in Portsmouth Cemetery.
