Letter: Who taught the press secretary alternate facts?

To the editor:

My fellow townspeople are justifiably proud that Barrington native Sean Spicer has been named White House Press Secretary.

Our school system is another point of justifiable pride. Its excellence is a major reason property values perform so well. I feel sure almost everyone appreciates the increase in their equity over the years.

But now I have a concern. I learned that Mr. Spicer attended Barrington schools until he was about 14 years old, when he entered Portsmouth Abbey School. Can anyone who is more familiar with the intimate workings of Barrington schools assure me that they do not teach any concept of "alternate facts"?

It wouldn't do to imagine that such intellectual garbage might be taught in our public schools.

Sincerely,

Tim Mize
