There's nothing that says springtime better than pretty, colorful flowers, and nowhere is this more evident than at this time of year at Blithewold in Bristol. Here, in the mansion's lavish gardens, you'll find drifts of daffodils set against the blue waters of Narragansett Bay. From this Saturday, April 16, through Saturday, April 30, you can wander among the scores of varieties among the 50,000 or more daffodils blooming in the gardens and along woodland paths. Other early blooming bulbs and shrubs add to the impressive display. In celebration of the return of springtime, the house will be adorned with daffodils, and visitors to the mansion during Daffodil Days may enjoy afternoon tea in the dining room Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1 to 3:30 p.m. For a daffodil bloom update check www.blithewold.org or call the Daffodil Message at 253-2707 ext. 35.
