To the editor:

I would like to take this time to thank the towns’ people of Tiverton. I am a senior at Tiverton High School and I have been lucky to have wonderful music teachers help me find my gift.

You see, when I was in the fourth grade, I was an awkward child who struggled to speak, read, and write. However, Mrs. Bond introduced me to a viola. This saved my life! Learning to play the viola not only came easily for me, as did math, but it also was something I knew I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Mrs. Berberick then helped me increase my skills for she saw my talent and challenged me to reach higher.

Now that I have completed my high school career, again Mrs. Berberick has written a special piece of music just for my senior project. I had the chance to play it with the Newport County Orchestra on the evening of May 1 at the Casino Theatre. There will be a repeat performance along with the entire TIverton High School music program on May 15 at 7 p.m. Please note that due to the fact that Tiverton schools were able to keep their music programs, I have been accepted to some of the top music colleges for viola performance.

Thank You for your Support and keeping our music alive,
Tiverton High School ’13
