Letter: Congrats to teen bookworms in Portsmouth

Letter: Congrats to teen bookworms in Portsmouth

To the editor:

Congratulations to Portsmouth teens who read 125 books this summer as part of the Portsmouth Free Public Library’s Teen Summer Reading Program!

Twelve teens met their reading goals to complete the program and earn a chance at prizes generously donated by Anna D’s Café, Boss Man Burger, Ryan Family Amusements and Steve’s Pizza. Many thanks to these local businesses!

Portsmouth teens also attended 12 programs offered by the library over the seven weeks of the program. These programs were a mix of crafts and games, as well as henna tattoo program and visits by Animal World Experience and the director of the Rhode Island State Crime Lab.

The R.I. Summer Reading Program is supported by the R.I. Office of Library and Information Services with funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Pawtucket Red Sox, Citizen’s Bank and Pepsi.

Congratulations again to Portsmouth teens for all their great reading this past summer! Watch for next year’s program to be offered summer of 2015.
