For Stafford Pond’s sake, try paddling

To the editor:

Any person who wonders whether outboard motors and drinking water go together,( Editorial 4/11) should pick up “Polluting For Pleasure” by Andre Mele. They won’t wonder any more.

It turns out that lots of unburned oil and gas, among other things, ends up in the water. Furthermore, Stafford Pond Landing is not adequately equipped to deal with invasive species.

I can paddle the length of Stafford Pond in less than half an hour, and I have a friend who routinely catches keeper bass in her 15 pound canoe. Fishing is, after all, a sport.
