The Clements Marketplace STAFF Food Bank Program was in full swing again this year. With an increase in participation and some local vendor commitment on pricing there were 10 pallets of food valued at over $15,000 donated last week to the Rhode Island Food Bank. Their truck was loaded to the top last Friday, Dec. 7, and everyone was smiling!
When I think back to the conversation Bob MacFarlane and I had about his idea to do this, it is truly amazing to see what the program has grown into today. We are very lucky to have people that work here who want to reach out and help others. If we can support this program simply through securing healthy product and storing it until delivery to the Food Bank we do so, and feel honored to be involved at any level. The minimum contribution is 25 cents a week and we have 60 percent of our staff involved. That is up 10 percent from last year!
So kudos to everyone who helped provide food for people in need. I am so proud to work with a group of people who care!
