To the editor:

The Bristol Warren Education Foundation (BWEF) is pleased to announce the awarding of $50,408 in grant funding for the 2013-14 school year. The funds will support 25 grants that will impact students in each of the Bristol Warren Regional School District’s (BWRSD) schools.

The diverse array of programs presented by the BWRSD faculty in our application process will stimulate and challenge students next year. The areas of study include math, science, reading, history, performing arts, foreign language, nature exploration, physical education, special education and a great deal of emerging technology.

BWEF is proud to support all of the innovative ideas brought forward by the faculty and appreciate the thoughtful approach they have taken through our grant-application process.

This year represents BWEF’s largest single-year funding amount and brings our total funding of programs to more than $175,000 since 2007. BWEF was presented with more than $100,000 in funding requests during the current cycle. Though we are happy to be able to support a significant portion of those requests we remain committed to keeping pace with the growing demand.

Founded in 2007, BWEF is a nonprofit tax-exempt organization. BWEF operates independently from the school district for the sole benefit of district students. Foundation board members are corporate and community leaders, parents, and alumni, who donate their time and talents in order to promote the mission of the Foundation.
