Letter: Object to CRMC administrative consent

To the editor:
Citizens: The Kickemuit River Council, (KRC), a 501C3 organization, a member of the RI Rivers Council, founded in 1973, representing citizens and organizations around the salt water Kickemuit River wants to alert you to a serious water issue. Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC) is proposing changes to its regulations that, among other items, could poorly affect you and your property and use of our waters:
1, CRMC wants to be able to grant marinas from five to 25 boats by Administrative Consent without your input.
2. CRMC wants to be able to grant aquaculture sites of up to three to 10 acres without your input or assent.
3. CRMC wants to be able to allow subdivisions of 20 units of housing or less without notice to you or input from you.
The KRC thinks that citizens should not lose these rights. Object.
The objections have to be in by Jan. 3, 2014, to: CRMC, Oliver Stedman Government Center, 4808 Tower Hill Rd., Wakefield, RI 02879 or by e-mail to: [email protected] and [email protected] CRMC phone is 401-783-3370, but objections have to be in by address or e-mail.
A public hearing which is on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2014, at 6 p.m. at the east Providence City Hall, Council Chambers, 145 Taunton Ave., East Providence, is being held. What timing??!! Why at this time of year? Will you fight this? You should. Please object and come.
“The bay cannot speak for itself. It needs loud voices from those who know it, love it,
and want to save it.” (P.J. Ed. 1969) about the Kickemuit River.
Please be one of those voices.

Ann Morrill
1st Vice President
Kickemuit River Council
