To the editor:
Some months ago a petition seeking a solution to a significant speeding problem on Beach Road was circulated and signed by 99-percent of households on Beach Road. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Bristol Town Council and particularly Councilman Edward Stuart who spearheaded a recent unanimous vote to approve a three-way stop sign at the intersection of Beach Road and Rogers Avenue as a traffic calming measure. Thanks also to Town Manager Anthony Teixeira, DPW Director James Galuska and the Bristol Police Department, who all took time out of their busy schedules to meet with me personally to evaluate the situation and come up with solutions. Additionally, I would like to thank those residents of nearby streets that feed into Beach Road for exercising good driving behavior while a resolution was pending. With our often frenetic routines it is sometimes difficult to resist the urge to get from here to there just a little bit quicker. As someone who lost a little niece to a speeder years ago I can’t over-emphasize that slowing down yields immeasurable results for pedestrians and drivers alike.
