Here are some smartphone app suggestions to help you tackle your New Year’s resolutions.

•    The free MyFitnessPal app is available for IOS users. It allows you to count calories and track what you eat. Android users should check out the free Noom Weight Loss Coach app, which is meant to help you form healthy habits. Using this app, you can keep track of daily tasks, meals and exercise. A pedometer counts your steps throughout the day.

•    If your goal is to run a road race in 2014, download Runkeeper for free. It’s available for both IOS and Android users. With this app, you will be able to track your progress and calories burned, and as you run, you can listen to the music on your smartphone. You will even be notified when you hit new personal bests and milestones. MapMyRun is also another great free app option for IOS and Android users.

•    Are you looking to quit smoking? The American Cancer Society’s free Quit for Life app can help. It is available for both IOS and Android users. The app lets you track how long it’s been since your last cigarette. It also shows you how much money you’ve saved by not smoking and explains how your health has improved by not smoking.

•    If your goal is to get back into a regular exercise routine, these apps will help: The Workout Trainer app is free and available for both IOS and Android users. It provides you with thousands of workout programs and includes instructional photos and videos.

•    Daily Yoga (All-in-One) is a free yoga coaching app that features more than 45 yoga sessions and more than 300 poses. It is available for IOS and Android users.

•    If you want to build your upper-body strength, Android users should download the free 100 Pushups app. IOS users should get the Pushups Coach app. There’s also free squat apps for IOS and Android users.

•    Now that the holidays are over, it is time to plan for the future: your financial future. IOS and Android users should download the free EZ Financial Calculators app. The app will help you better manage accounts like your 401K. And if you are looking to buy that car you’ve been eyeing, you can figure out your car payment by using the app.

•    This year, you’ve promised to be more organized, but you need a little help. The free How to Get Organized Idea+ Tips app can assist Android users. IOS users should download the free Evernote app that helps keep all your documents and pictures organized across all of your electronic devices, and you won’t risk forgetting anything again as you can record voice and audio notes through the app.
