Born in Porterwood, W.Va., he was the son of the late George and Edith (Phillips) Sturm. Bill worked for General Electric Co. for 30 years and was a founder of Sturm’s Appliance in Middletown.
A Korean War Army veteran, Bill had been active with the Boy Scouts and was a past president of the PTA. He was a pillar of faith in the Barrington United Methodist Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, William R. Sturm, Jr. of Middletown and Joseph D. Sturm of Barrington; two daughters, Janice McPartland of Rehoboth and Susan Eddins of Riverside; 3 brothers, Kenneth and Jerry Sturm of W.Va., and Larry Sturm of Va.; 9 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the Barrington United Methodist Church, 230 Washington Road. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave., Riverside.
