Born in Passaic, N.J., a son of the late Walter and Marie (Mach) Nebiker, he was a resident of the area for over 25 years. Mr. Nebiker was a consultant and then a preservation planner for the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission. He was the first president and co-founder of the North Smithfield Heritage Association and the first president of the Warren Preservation Society. He served in the US Navy aboard the USS Wilkes-Barre and the USS Little Rock and was very proud of his service to his country. Mr. Nebiker enjoyed sailing, camping and traveling, and completed a two-month trek across the United States on his bicycle.
He leaves three sons, David Nebiker and his wife Barbara of Potomac, MD., Daniel Nebiker of Warren and Arlin Nebiker of E. Providence; two daughters, Kristin Nebiker of Tacoma, WA and Karin Nebiker of Harrisville. A sister, Mary Ann Hansler and her husband Richard of Corvallis, OR, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are with SMITH FUNERAL AND MEMORIAL SERVICES, 8 Schoolhouse Rd. Warren, where the family will receive friends Saturday, July 27, from 4-7PM.
