Virginia “Ginny” Bridge, 89, of Dighton, formerly of Tiverton, passed away on Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at the Dighton Nursing Center. She was born in Somerset, the daughter of the late Charles H. Bridge Sr. and the late Violet (Palmer) Bridge. She resided most of her life in Tiverton.
Virginia was a graduate of BMC Durfee High School, Class of 1942. She worked in the war effort making gas masks at Firestone before joining the Nurse Cadet Corp and becoming an RN. During her career she worked at the Newport Naval Hospital as well as at hospitals in various locations including Fall River and New York City.
Virginia loved the ocean and enjoyed swimming at the beach in Tiverton. She experienced a memorable sail to Europe on the Queen Mary and had traveled throughout the United States.
Ginny is survived by a sister, Violet Blake of Wilton, NH; three brothers, Ralph Bridge of Portsmouth, Ronald Bridge of Peru; Bradfrod Bridge of San Diego, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Edmund, Russell and Charles Bridge.
A memorial service for Ms. Bridge will be held on Saturday, July 6, at 11 a.m. in the Hathaway Home for Funerals, 1813 Robeson St., Fall River. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
