Theresa R. (Canuel, DePaola) Simon, age 87, of Westport, formerly of Fall River, passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013, in St. Anne’s Hospital, Fall River. She was the wife of the late John Simon and the late John A. DePaola. She was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Albert and Aldea (Leveille) Canuel.
Mrs. Simon had many jobs throughout the area including the Pocasset County Club, and was a communicant of St. Mary’s Cathedral, where she was a greeter and member of the Women’s Guild and the St. Mary’s Seniors. She enjoyed golf, frequent trips to Martha’s Vineyard, gardening, reading, ballroom dancing, was a member of several card leagues and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Patricia Collins and her husband David of Tiverton, and Jacqueline Falcon of Fall River; four grandchildren, Michael Falcon of Swansea, Tracy LePage of Fall River, John J. Medeiros of Mansfield, Mass., and Teresa Collins O’Connor of Little Compton; eight great grandchildren, Michael and Kayleigh Falcon, Eric and Kyle LePage, Abigail and Marissa Medeiros and Finnbahr and Aiden O’Connor; three brothers, Raymond Canuel of Virginia, Roger Canuel of Illinois and Donald Canuel of Tiverton; three step-children, John Simon and his wife Donna, Steven Simon and his wife Sharon and Linda Simon Kellerman and her husband Arthur, all of Littleton, NH; six step-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was also the sister of the late Alphonse, Norman and Charles Canuel.
Her funeral will be Saturday, August 17, at 8:30 a.m. from the Waring Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St., Fall River, followed by her funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Cathedral, Spring St., Fall River. Visiting hours will be Saturday from 8:30 to 9:30 prior to her Mass.
