Stanley B. Macomber Jr., 84, Milford, Mass.


MACOMBER 001Stanley B. Macomber Jr., 84, of Milford, Mass. passed away Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013 at the Beaumont Rehab & Skilled Nursing Center in Northbridge, Mass. He was the husband of Catherine Rose (Pope) Macomber.
Born Dec. 4, 1928 in Newport, RI, the son of the late Stanley B. and Helen (Gorman) Macomber, he attended Warren, RI schools. Mr. Macomber served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He had been employed with the U.S. Postal Service in Ashland, Mass. for 30 years before his retirement in 1986.
Stanley was a charter member of VFW Post 2331 in Ashland and the James O’Carney American Legion Post 77 in Ashland. He enjoyed horses and raising them in his early life, and like most New Englanders was a fan of both the Red Sox and Patriots.
Besides his wife Catherine, Stanley leaves five children, 10 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his sister Sally Tracey of Warren, and his caregiver Robie Lamontagne, who treated him like her own father. He was the brother of the late Anne Abate.
A Celebration of Life with Eucharist will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26 in Trinity Episcopal Church, 17 Congress St., Milford. Visiting hours are 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Buma- Sargeant Funeral Home, 42 Congress St., Milford. Burial with military honors will follow in Vernon Grove Cemetery, Milford.
