Mildred C. (Bradbury) Cottrell of Tiverton passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at her daughter Lizabeth’s home in Tiverton on Friday, April 5, 2013.
She was the wife of the late William H. Cottrell who passed away April 30, 2011. Millie was born in Fall River and adopted by the late Ralph and Lillie May Bradbury, her maternal grandparents.
She was a librarian at the Essex Library, an assistant librarian at Tiverton High School, special education aide and office secretary at Fort Barton School and Tiverton High School. She was also the secretary for Cottrell Painting and Decorating, her husband’s business for over 50 years.
Millie and her husband were extras in The Great Gatsby filmed in Newport and proudly hung their picture in their home for all to see. After retiring, she and her husband loved traveling in Europe and the US visiting friends and making new ones.
Survivors are her daughters, Suzanne M. Plocica, Lizabeth A. Cottrell and Leslie Furman, all of Tiverton; and grandchildren, Andrew Plocica, Erin Plocica, Janae Holbrook, Jeremiah and his wife Kate Holbrook, Kendra Furman and Thomas Furman.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 27, at 1 p.m. at Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton, where both, Mildred and William will be memorialized.
