Obituary Image-3Salvatore A. “Sal” Abate, 64, of Orchard Street, Bristol, died Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013 at his home with his family by his side.
He was the loving husband Sarah (Tattrie) Abate, his wife of 41 years.
Born in Providence, and a lifelong Bristol resident, he was a son of the late Francisco and Mary (Cote) Abate.
Sal owned and operated Sal’s Auto Body in Bristol for 35 years before retiring.
He was a member of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, he served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He loved cooking for his family, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Kimberly M. Levesque and her husband Marc of Bristol, and Jennifer L. Abate of Cranston; four granddaughters, Kaitlin Abate, Sawyer Levesque, Logan Levesque and Addison Abate; a sister, Frances Jones and her husband Lee of Alexandria, VA; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 23 at 9 a.m. at the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St. with a Requiem Eucharist Service at 10 a.m. in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 399 Hope St.
Burial with Military Honors will follow in North Burial Ground on Hope Street.
Visiting hours are Tuesday, Oct. 22 from 4 – 8 p.m.
