Russell G. Lundstrom Sr., 94, of Bristol passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014. Born in Worcester, Mass., he was a son of the late Ernest and Signe (Lindstrom) Lundstrom, and beloved husband of Lorraine J. (Roberts) Lundstrom.
He started at the age of 17 as an office boy for Anchorage, now known as Dyer Boats in Warren. While working his way up, he entered the Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a bombardier who flew 19 missions. He was also a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross.
He was a deacon at the First Congregational Church for many years and superintendent of the youth Sunday school.
On his return home, Anchorage hired him back and he continued up the ladder to manager and then vice president at which point he retired in 1988. He returned as a broker for several years after his retirement.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son, Russell G. Lundstrom Jr. of Bristol. He was predeceased by his daughter, Dr. Karen Lundstrom-Baudais. He was brother of the late Kenneth R Lundstrom and Marion Crehan.
At the request of the family, the funeral will be private.
