Roland H. Cook, 76, of Highland Road, Bristol, passed unexpectedly Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at his home. He was the loving husband of Frances E. (Terra) Cook, wife of 56 years.
Born in Providence, he lived in Warren before moving to Bristol 47 years ago. He was a son of the late Roland H. and Alice (Pevin) Cook. Roland owned and operated Cook’s Overhead Doors in Bristol for many years. He was a life member and past president (1996-97) of the Bristol Rotary, where he attained perfect attendance for 43 years and was honored twice as a Paul Harris Fellow. He was greatly loved and respected by his fellow Rotarians. He was also a member of the Bristol County Lodge of Elks #1860. Mr. Cook was an avid golfer, and enjoyed boating and fishing. He was very kind and generous and very much admired. His favorite time spent was with his loving family and grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he leaves his children, Christopher Cook and wife Karen, and Scott T. Cook, all of Bristol, and Amy E. Fitzgerald and husband Kevin of Portsmouth; five grandchildren, Ashley E. Cook, Benjamin A. Cook, James A. Cook II, Ella F. Fitzgerald and Jack Fitzgerald; and two step-grandchildren, Meghan and Katarina. He was the father of the late James A. “Jimmy” Cook.
Visiting hours were held Saturday, March 29. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bristol Rotary, P.O. Box 469, Bristol, RI 02809.
