Richard “Dick” W. Wildes, 76, of Little Compton and Alstead, N.H., died on Saturday, June 1, 2013, at Genesis Center in Keene, NH.
He was born the son of the late Ines (Shaw) and Theodore Wildes on November 3, 1936 in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He was educated in Little Compton and graduated from the Wilbur School, Class of 1954. Dick attended the University of Rhode Island for one year. He left college to enlist in the U.S. Air Force. Dick was honorably discharged at the rank of Airman First Class.
On July 11, 1964 he exchanged vows with Joanne N. Rawson at the United Congregational Church in Little Compton. They have been married for almost 49 years.
Dick worked for the Simplex Grinnell Company in Providence. He was a designer of sprinkler systems for fire protection. He retired in 1998 after 36 years of employment.
Dick was a member of the Lions Club, J.C.’s, a volunteer fireman and member of the rescue personnel. He enjoyed collecting and restoring antique cars, especially Packards, Auburns and Corvettes. He also liked to travel when it was convenient.
