Richard L. Gempp, 88, of Seymour Street, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012, at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Home in Bristol. He was the husband of Anna (Cariglia) Gempp for 61 years.

A lifelong resident of Warren, he was the son of the late William and Caroline (Kosior) Gempp. Mr. Gempp was a World War II Navy veteran, serving as a Gunners Mate #3, and was a graduate of LaSalle Academy and Brown University, Class of 1951.  Before his retirement in 1994, Richard worked for 14 years for the Yates Rubber Company in Fall River.

Mr. Gempp was a communicant, former trustee, lector and Eucharistic Minister of St. Alexander Parish. He was a member of the Brown Club of Rhode Island, a former member of the Warren School Committee, and chairman of the Warren High School Building Committee.  After retiring, he participated as a member of the Brown Community Learning in Retirement (BCLiR).

Besides his wife, he heaves his sons, William M. of Barrington and Lawrence R. of Antioch, IL; a daughter, Martha G. Delekta of Warren; and eight grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan Gempp D’Ambrosio.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27 in St. Alexander Church, 221 Main St., Warren.  Calling hours are respectfully omitted.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Alexander Parish, 221 Main St., Warren, RI 02885, or the George Hail Free Library, 530 Main St., Warren, RI 02885.
