Paul E. Casey Jr., 72, of Warren and Florida, died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013 in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands, while on vacation with his beloved bride of 51 years, Mary (Crowley) Casey. Paul was a banker who eventually retired as a vice president for Bank of Boston.
A son of the late Paul and Rose (Smith) Casey, he grew up in East Providence and moved to Warren, where he graduated from Warren High School before attending Brown University. He served in the Rhode Island National Guard and in active duty for United States Army Combat/Construction Engineering Division.
He was a member of the Warren Fire Department Rescue Squad for 45 years, serving as Lieutenant and secretary treasurer, and continued as an inactive member as the Rescue Squad historian for a total of 45 years. He loved the people in his town and gave back by helping those in need.
A loving father and caring grandfather, Paul leaves three children, Deborah Thoener and her husband Marc of North Attleboro, MA, Peter Casey and his wife Janet of Hatfield, MA and Keith Casey and his wife Liz of Somerset, MA. He was loved and adored by his six grandchildren, Tyler, Jennifer, Caraline, Griffin, Cooper and Cassidy. He was the brother of the late Sister Joan Casey, RSM.
Arrangements are with Smith Funeral and Memorial Services, 8 Schoolhouse Road, Warren. Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 28 from the funeral home, with a Mass in St. Mary of the Bay Church.
