obit-CalleryPatrick Joseph Callery, 82, of Barrington, formerly of Pawtucket and Bristol, passed away May 30, 2013 at RI Hospital.  He was the husband of the late E. Virginia (Kurriss) Callery.

Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Patrick J. and Christina (Madden) Callery.   Patrick was a salesman with Gorham Silver, J. C. Ferrara and Richard Associates. He was an Army veteran, a ukulele playing member of the RI Strummers, a member of the New England Jewelers Association and was inducted into the RI Aquatic Hall of Fame in 2001.  He began his diving and swim career at Pawtucket Boy’s Club and went on to swim for Pawtucket East High School. He continued at Boston University where he was later head coach of the varsity swim team.  He was a Rhode Island State Diving Champion, a New England Junior Diving Champion and on the champion RI All-Star Swimming Team.

He is survived  by two sons Dr. Kerry C. Callery of Portsmouth, Sean Callery of Los Angeles, two daughters Siobhan V. Callery of East Providence, and Deirdre E. Walton, with whom he lived of Barrington, two grandsons, two granddaughters.  He was the brother of the late Margaret King and Mary (Mae) Simmons.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 10 at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Church, Washington Road, Barrington.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Boy’s & Girl’s Club of Pawtucket.   Visit smithmason.com for information and online condolences.
