She was born in Faial, Azores, daughter of the late Jose S. and Maria A. (Alvernaz) Ramos, where she lived for 29 years until moving to Pawtucket, RI, in 1960.
She worked as a seamstress for various mills in the Pawtucket area before her retirement in 1991. In 1998 she became a resident of Westport where she was a communicant of St. George Church.
She is survived by her son, Carlos R. DeFreitas and his wife Mary Lou of Westport; a granddaughter, Emily DeFreitas; a nephew, Manuel Fernando Vargas; she was the sister of the late Olivia Ramos and Branca R. Vargas.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are invited, will be Wednesday, Dec. 19, at 9 a.m. from the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road, Westport, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church, Westport at 10.
