Margaret was born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Navy Lieutenant Commander Walter E. Quinlan and the late Rosemund Garrity Quinlan. Margaret graduated from BMC Durfee High School class of 1940 and the FG Allen Business School.
As vice president of Bank Newport she managed the Stone Bridge branch of Tiverton until her retirement in 1987. Margaret will be remembered and revered for her commitment and willingness to serve in this capacity.
Peg was a talented gardener, animal lover and avid tennis player. She enjoyed swimming and boating and was well known for her quahoggng prowess at Little Beach. We were all blessed by her guidance and never-ending love for her family and friends. Mrs. McFarland was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Tiverton for many years.
She was the devoted mother of Susan G. Friar and her husband Peter Friar, and Robyn Newall of Brattleboro, Vt. She was the cherished grandmother of Paul Materia, Colby Rooney and Whitney Taft, as well as several great grandchildren and treasured aunt of Caryn Dunlap. She was the sister of the late William H. Quinlan and the late Ann Louise Bergh.
A Memorial Mass for Margaret will be held on Saturday, March 16, at 11 a.m., in Saint Christopher Church, Main Road, Tiverton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
