Luiza (Pinheiro) da Rosa, 90


Luiza (Pinheiro) da Rosa, 90, of St. Elizabeth Street died peacefully with her family by her side on September 30th at Silver Creek Manor.  She was the wife of the late Henrique Dutra daRosa.

Born in Capelo, Faial, Azores, she was the daughter of the late Mateus and Filomena (Cunha) Pinheiro.  She attended school in Portugal and was employed at Robin Rug for 25 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality of St. Elizabeth Church and also a member of the Portuguese pray group that met on Tuesday nights.  She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.

She is survived by her daughters Mary Lou (Domingos) Daniel of Bristol, Mary (Manuel) Medeiros of Bristol and Mary F. (John Paul) Francis of Warren; grandchildren Eric Daniel, Amy Lanoie, Melinda Quinn, Meghan Robinson, Sara Mello, Kaitlin Mack and Mollie Taylor; great grandchildren Evan, Luke, Elise, Brenna, Gavin, Austin, Heyden and Simone and brothers Eduardo Pinheiro, Jose Pinheiro and Alexandre Pinheiro.  She was the sister of the late Maria Pereira, Mateus Pinheiro, Alzira Faria and Antonio Pinheiro.

Funeral services were held October 4th from the George Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Fr. Richard Narciso at St. Elizabeth Church. Liturgical readings were by Eric Daniel and Melinda Quinn and the Prayer of the Faithful was read by Sara Mello.  The offertory gifts were presented by Amy Daniel, Kaitlin Mack and Mollie Taylor. The eulogist was Mollie Taylor. Serving as pallbearers were Eric Daniel, Bill Quinn, Dwayne Robinson, Ron Mack, Wes Taylor and Donald Lanoie. Members of the Holy Rosary Sodality served as honorary pallbearers.  Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
