Louis Mello

Louis MelloLouis Mello III, 34, of Lake Road, Tiverton, passed into eternal peace on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, after a very brave and lengthy battle with diabetes.

Louis was the son of Louis Mello Jr. and the late Beverly (Dwelly) Mello of Tiverton.

Besides his father, he is survived by his uncles, Charles Dwelly of Little Compton, Michael Mello of Fall River, Wayne Mello of Tiverton; his aunt, Vivian Mello of Florida; and several great-aunts and uncles, many cousins and friends. He was the beloved grandson of Beverly (DeMello) Mello of New York, the late Charles F Dwelly, the late Louis and Lorraine (Levasser) Mello.

His love was for family, friends and being on the water either catching lobsters or diving for quahogs. He fulfilled a lifetime dream of becoming a captain after attending maritime school where he obtained his captain’s license. He loved being called Cap’n Lou.  He was the former captain of the Sunny Jim.

His Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Madeline’s Church, 35 Lake Road, Tiverton, on Friday, March 21, at 10:30 a.m.  Internment will be at Notre Dame Cemetery in Fall River.
